Players
In a classic game of two halves, Great Wakering came from behind to take the points with both their goals scored by two of five former Town players in the visitors starting line-up.
After Brentwood had dominated the first half, but with only a one-goal lead to show for their efforts, Wakering turned the game on its head with two goals in, in the 50th and 56th minute through Josh Banton and Leon Gordon.
Brentwood had created a lot of chances in the first half. In the ninth minute Lamar Reynolds played in Charlie Georgiou whose shot hit the outside of the post.
Reynolds himself then got clear but he was blocked home Rovers keeper Matt Belcher, who had a brief spell with Blues last season. Belcher then saved well again from a deflected shot by Andy Freeman who had cleverly found space on the left of the penalty area.
Matt Hall’s dipping shot hit the crossbar before the Blues deservedly went ahead in the 38th minute when Georgiou turned well and shot home.
Banton equalised early in the second half when he found himself clear in the penalty area. Blues keeper blocked the initial shot but the ball rebounded of Banton into the net. Six minute later Leon Gordon put his team ahead with a deft touch from a corner.
