Brentwood suffered their third successive league defeat at the hands of in-form Thurock. They never recovered from going two goals behind by the sixteenth minute and they conceded a third goal in the 37th minute which effectively secured the points for the home side.
However, Thurrock were reduced to ten men just before half time when their defender Hussain Jaffa was sent off for a foul on Charlie Georgiou, and Mason Bloomfield converted the resulting penalty kick to make it 3-1 at the interval.
But Blues could not take advantage of the extra man and it was the Fleet who took their chances in the second half, adding two further goals through Charlie Stimson eleven minutes from time and Mark Onyemah shortly before the final whistle.
Brentwood had Harry Talbot, promoted from the under-21 team, making his debut in the midfield and there was a welcome return from injury for Shad Ngandu but Blues are still missing several key players through suspension and injury.
It looked all too easy at the start for Thurrock as they raced into that two-goal lead through Remi Sutton, who shot his team ahead with less than two minutes on the clock, and Onyemah’s sixteenth minute strike. But Brentwood got back into the game, at least possession-wise, and matched their opponents until David Cowley made it 3-0 with a fine long range shot.
