Overview
Brentwood Town's long losing run was finally ended with a comfortable win in Norfolk.
Despite, once again, missing some key players, Brentwood produced an impressive performance based on a sound defensive display that restricted the home side to very few scoring chances.
The Magpies started the first half well but Blues keeper Mo Otuyo only had to deal with one shot on target, a 25-yard effort by Daniel Beaumont that Otuyo comfortably held.
Ife Ogunbayo shot Blues ahead in the 32nd minute, his first goal for the club, after a fine move and assist from Luke Foster.
Midfield debutant Kieran English made it 2-0 from the penalty spot in the 58th minute after Marcus Milner had been brought down in the box by Vadim Constandachi.
Brentwood controlled the middle of the park for much of the second half where Billy Rees played an important role in front of the back four. Dereham were handicapped by loss of substitute Adam Smith who received two yellow cards in quick succession shortly after coming on.
Dereham only looked like creating any threat to the Blues defence very late in the game and Joe Gatting's 90th minute goal could have meant a nervy end to the game as it went into five minutes of added time. But Brentwood sub Chris Cordara-Soares soon clinched the win with a third goal, going clear of the home defence and coolly beating Will Viner in the Dereham goal.
