Overview
Lamar Reynolds converted an 86th minute penalty to earn Brentwood a well-deserved point in Kent.
On a windy afternoon in Crayford, Brentwood created chances in the first half and Sam Owusu had the ball in the Vickers net in the sixteenth minute but the midfielder was offside.
Five minutes later, home keeper Niklas Freund came out and saved from Reynolds as the forward came through on goal. Andy Freeman then shot over the top.
VCD’s Kojo Awotwi shot just wide in a crowded penalty area in the 26th minute and Anthony Page saved well from Victor Zapata Caicedo as the home side enjoyed a good spell before half time.
Reynolds had another chance early in the second half but shot over after latching on to Matt Hall’s through ball.
The Vicker’s took a 1-0 lead in the 78th minute when two former Brentwood players, Mitch Hahn and Jamie Guy, linked up and Hahn shot into the bottom corner of the goal.
It looked as though it could be a pointless afternoon for Brentwood until Reynolds was fouled in the area by Derek Duncan to give Reynolds the chance to from the penalty spot. Freund got his hands to the penalty kick but could not keep out Reynolds fierce shot.
