Overview
In an eventful start to the new season, newly-promoted Hertford Town came back from a two-goal half time deficit to earn a point at the Brentwood Arena.
Brentwood’s starting line-up included nine of last season’s squad plus new signings Matt Price and Luke Stanley, and it was striker Price who marked his league debut by giving Blues a 5th minute lead by finishing well from Andy Freeman’s left-wing cross.
Hertford enjoyed some good possession in the first half but were denied by home keeper Anthony Page on two occasions but it was the home side that took a 2-0 lead in the 40th minute when Harrison Georgiou converted another Freeman assist for the second goal.
A dramatic last fifteen minutes saw the visitors score twice in the space of four minutes. Page made another good save Hertford’s from Michael Toner but almost immediately afterwards, Charlie Edwards slotted home to make it 2-1 in the 75th minute.
And the equaliser came in the 78th minute when Ollie Sharman headed home at the far post.
In a feisty end to the contest, both sides had chances to snatch a late win, and Blues’ Georgiou was sent off after a second yellow card.
