Overview
Brentwood suffered their heaviest league defeat of the season when they visited promotion-chasing Canvey Island.
The Frost hire stadium pitch was in good condition and the hosts were soon on the attack and took a fourth minute lead as Ryan Charles cut into the penalty area and hit a left foot shot inside the post.
Blues were defending for almost the entire first half and Anthony page was busy, making good saves from Mitchell Gilbey and Sam Collins, but he was beaten again on 33 minutes when Gilbey set up a chance for George Craddock to score easily from close range.
Blues introduced midfielders Matt Hall and Luke Foster early in the second half but fell further behind in the 59th minute when Collins drove home with a fierce, low free kick.
Page produced some more good saves to keep the score down until Frankie Merrifield headed in Craddockâs corner at the far post to make it 4-0 in the 80th minute.
There was still time for Canvey substitute Martin Tuohy to score a fifth goal, taking the ball round Page to score easily.
