Tony Stokes’ 80th minute equaliser earned Brentwood a point that their second half performance deserved against Dereham at the Brentwood Arena.
With Harry Gibbs not fit, Danny Dafter came into the Brentwood team at centre back for his first start since recently returning to the club.
Play-off hopefuls Dereham had the better of the early exchanges and looked to have taken a fifteenth minute lead when Rhys Logan cut in from the left and curled a shot inside the far post, but the goal was disallowed for an offside infringement.
However, Logan did put Dereham ahead in the 23rd minute, converting from close range after a good run and low cross from the left wing by Daniel Beaumont.
Luke Foster had the Blues best chance of the first half five minutes before half time when he got on the end of a Stokes cross, but his volley was off target.
Visiting keeper Elliott Pride denied Foster with a fine double-save eight minutes into the second half. A minute later Jack Gardner hit the underside of the Dereham crossbar and it was Gardner whose early pass put Stokes clear for a fine finish to make it 1-1 ten minutes from the end.
Blues then looked the more likely winners and in a frantic three minutes of stoppage time, Brentwood could easily have grabbed a winner, but Brenden Cavalier headed their best chance wide of the post.
