FA YOUTH CUP PRELIMINARY ROUND
BRIGHTLINGSEA REGENT 1 – 3 BRENTWOOD TOWN
A strong first half performance by Brentwood Under-18s saw them through to the 1st qualifying round on the FA Youth Cup where they will be at home to Wingate & Finchley.
Alex Noble twice got behind the home defence in the first five minutes but saw his first effort well saved by the Regent keeper and on the occasions, Noble saw his shot hit a post. But Noble finally found the net on 30 minutes with a powerful 20-yard shot.
Brentwood were in control and they scored again six minutes later when Kieran Jones scored from close range to finish off a fine move down the right.
Blues, who were playing their first competitive match of the season visibly tired in the second half and Brightlingsea came back into the game with Jamie Kiddell becoming the busier keeper. Slatter pulled a goal back on 65 minutes and it was tense end to the game until Ollie Dosad slotted in a third goal for Brentwood in the last of the five minutes of stoppage time.
