Brentwood are back on the road this weekend, and making one of their longest league journeys this year, travelling to Chichester City. It’s not been the easiest of starts for the Lilywhites this season, but they have started to find their feet as of late.
The Blues
Brentwood exited the Essex Senior cup in their last match, facing an impressive Maldon & Tiptree side, who are favourites to gain automatic promotion from the Isthmian North Division.
Macaulay Bonne’s header put the visitors ahead after 15 minutes, with Courtney Senior adding a second before half-time with an outrageous strike. Terrell Egbri made it 3-0 in the 56th minute, and despite a Manny Ogunrinde offside goal, the Blues were unable to respond.
This now means the Blues are out of the FA trophy and the Essex Senior Cup, but they remain 2nd in the Isthmian Premier Division, just behind Folkestone Invicta, who they travel to in a few weeks time.
The Blues will be looking to take their performance against Hornchurch forward into this game, holding the National League South leaders to a draw after 90 minutes.
The Lilywhites
Chichester City are 14th in the table, with 20 points accumulated so far. They have games in hand on the teams around them, so a win in this game could see them start to climb the table.
Their last match was a 2-0 loss away to Dartford. Dan Smith was the scorer of both goals, one in the 21st minute, the other in the 67th. Before this game however, the Lilywhites were unbeaten in 5, really picking up their league form.
The goals have been fairly spread out this season, with 14 different goal scorers already, but one to watch is Lloyd Rowlatt who is top scorer with 3 goals, most of which have came in recent games. Ryan Davidson is also one to watch from set pieces as an aerial threat.
Final Word
It should be an exciting game with Chichester finding form, and Brentwood hungry to stay fighting at the top. Keith Rowland’s side will be looking to build on their away win at St Albans, and keep their momentum going.
