Match Preview

The Robins are the only team with a perfect start to the 2026/27 Isthmian Premier season, winning all of their opening four games, so it’s yet another tough test for the Blues on the road.

The Blues

It’s been a tough start to the season for Brentwood Town. They saw victory in their first match against Burgess Hill Town, a 2-0 win at the Arena to bring confidence on the opening day, but a tough run of games has seen them without a win since.

Most recently they welcomed Enfield Town to the Arena, but were defeated 3-1. Wyan Reid was sent off in the second-half for a second yellow card, and the Blues were unable to find a way back into the game, despite Bradley Sach’s goal from the spot on the stroke of half-time, his third of the season so far.

Keith Rowland’s side had a similar start to Carshalton’s last season, top of the league having won most of their opening matches, and this could be a chance for them to show their quality against a side with all of the confidence and start climbing back towards the top end of the table.

The Robins

This season could not have started better for Carshalton Athletic. 4 games played, 12 points, unbeaten with two clean sheets already. They finished only two points above the relegation zone last season, so it’s a turn that not many saw coming, but they show no signs of slowing down yet.

Steven Bates joined the club in February as new first-team manager and this summer he’s been able to put a new look squad together. They’ve signed Charles Hagan, Tope Fadahunsi, Ben Dudzinski, John Ross and former Blues centre-back Ethan Kaiser. They’ve also retained a good core of the squad from last season including impressive youngster Nathan Young-Coombes.

In the Robins last match they went down very early to newly promoted Stanway Rovers at The Kingdom Stadium, Stephan Toussaint firing the hosts ahead in the third minute. Jack Jebb equalised from the spot in the first half before Prince Kandolo gave the visitors the lead nine minutes after the break to score another vital three points.

Final Word

The fortunes of these sides have differed in the opening weeks, and Carshalton Athletic will be hoping to build on the momentum they have picked up. Brentwood Town need to find a win from somewhere and they will be hungry to make a statement at the War Memorial Sports Stadium.
