Match Preview
The Blues will be back at home on bank holiday Monday welcoming newly promoted Maldon & Tiptree, who have had a decent start to life in the Isthmian Premier winning two of their opening four matches ahead of the weekend’s clashes.
The Blues
There’s been a lot of change over the summer for Blues manager, Keith Rowland, with many new arrivals, and whilst they are settling in well, there’s still work to be done.
There have been fresh faces through the door during the off-season to replace those who moved on to pastures new, and the Blues do not lack quality. Some landmark signings include Freddie Sears, Mikey Berry, Malachi Linton, Tommy Davies, Luke Read, Harry Gibbs and the return of Aaron Sterling.
Monday will be a different test to what the Blues have faced so far, a determined side who have a point to prove having stepped up a division. Maldon have shown their capability in the opening games, and it will not be an easy one for Keith Rowland’s Brentwood.
The Jammers
Maldon & Tiptree were promoted as Isthmian North Champions in the 2025/26 season, finishing ahead of Felixstowe & Walton United on goal difference, with a ratio eleven better. It has been a Summer of change for the Jammers, but they have seen success in the opening matches, picking up six points.
They have managed to retain a couple of high quality players like Elliot Justham and Tom Eastman, but the squad has had a complete overhaul under new manager Mark Hawkes. Some arrivals include Elliott Sartorious, Aaron Williams-Bushell, Scott Simmons and Samuel Oluwatobi.
Last weekend the Jammers travelled to fellow newly promoted side Leatherhead, and against all odds, they came away with a 4-1 win, against a side who up to that point were unbeaten. Their other win came against Aveley at home, Iffy Allen scoring the only goal in the 91st minute.
Final Word
It is a game with a lot of unknowns for Brentwood, but a match that is vital to win if the Blues want to climb the table. Maldon will have hunger to continue their good start as they have already shown ability against some top sides, so Keith Rowland’s side will have to once again be at their best to pick up three points at the Arena.
