A point apiece was settled between the six-goal encounter of Brentwood Town and Essex neighbours Aveley.
Suley Zhudu opened the scoring for the visitors with an early lead after he found himself one-on-one with Melvin Minter, before slotting the ball underneath the ‘keeper.
A quick response was sourced by Blues’ talisman Danny Ogunleye as he fired home an equaliser down the right flank from Wyan Reid’s through ball, netting his 12th of the season.
Before the break, the Blues took an advantage with the curled delivery of Max Hudson connecting with the header of Ogunleye, who was unmarked in the Aveley box.
The Millers levelled the score again in the 58th minute through Harry Critchley, who was picked out by the floating cross of Zhudu and converted a centrally placed header.
Alejandro Machado came close to re-advancing the Blues with his close range effort struck over. Moments on, however, he put one past his former side when converting the in-swinging corner delivery of teammate Ade Cole.
A long range attempt from Wyan Reid was struck over before a Millers counterattack forced an acrobatic save by Minter to deny an equaliser.
In the final five minutes of time, Zhudu re-levelled for Aveley when he tucked an effort past the diving stretch of Minter.
Following this, both sides pushed for a winner, but neither side were able to find that moment of magic.
Brentwood Town are in action again next Saturday as they face a tricky test away at Folkestone Invicta.
