The Blues are back on home turf this weekend, as they welcome South London side Dulwich Hamlet to the Arena.
Both sides come into this game off the back of 1-0 losses in the league, so will be keen to get back to winning ways.
The Blues
Brentwood are now in third position, sitting on 49 points equal with Chatham Town, who have a goal difference of 18 better than the Blues. It was a tight match away at local rivals Billericay last time out for Town, who came out on the losing side.
Elliot Long scored the only goal of the match coming in the 22nd minute. Being an Essex derby, it was a cagey encounter, and the Blues struggled to find chances to equalise, in a game thin of clear cut chances.
Another Essex neighbour, Aveley, sit one point behind Brentwood, and also have a game in hand over the Blues. There is now only a 7 point gap to Cray Wanderers outside the playoff spots, so it’s imperative for Keith Rowland’s side to pick up all three points in this match.
The Hamlet
Dulwich are sat just eight points below the playoff spots, 11th place in the league, with 34 points. They have struggled to find consistent form after winning their opening four games, and last time out lost at home to Cheshunt.
It was a 1-0 win for the visitors, with Amadou Kassarate seeing red in the 39th minute for Dulwich. This opened the door for Matthias Fanimo to score in the 49th minute to put Cheshunt ahead, and Hamlet were unable to square the game.
Dulwich’s opponents have not often kept clean sheets this season, and a big reason for that is star striker Luke Wanadio, who has bagged eleven goals this campaign. He will likely be a key player for Hamlet, and one the Blues will have to work hard to keep quiet.
Final Word
It is a must win game for both teams, as Dulwich look to close in on the playoff spots, whilst Brentwood look to hold onto theirs. Neither team are in their best form, but Keith Rowland’s side will look to find their feet in this match.
