ISTHMIAN NORTH DIVISION
BRENTWOOD TOWN 1 - 1 HISTON

A penalty apiece saw the teams take a point each in a match where the offer of free entry for spectators drew the biggest crowd of the season to the Brentwood Arena.

Blues Jacob Wiggins hit the foot of the post with a snapshot in the eleventh minute while Histon’s Danny Gould tested home keeper Tim Brown on a couple of occasions. Max York put the visitors ahead with first spot kick of the afternoon in the eighteenth minute.

Temi Babalola went close to scoring for Brentwood on three occasions towards the end of the first half. The striker got behind the Histon defence in the 34th minute, rounded Stutes goalkeeper Sam Roach but shot wide from a narrow angle. In the last minute before half time Babalola forced a save from Roach before seeing a shot deflected for a corner in stoppage time.

Babalola continued to trouble the defence after the break and won a penalty which he duly despatched himself in the 49th minute to level the scores.

The visitors enjoyed some good possession and had a number of corner kicks in the second half but Brentwood’s defence who had kept clean sheets in the two previous matches held firm and Blues often looked the more likely team to break the deadlock. Brentwood remain in sixteenth place in the Isthmian North division and are eleven points clear of the relegation place after taking seven points from the last three matches.

Brentwood Town: Brown, Milner, Pugsley, Freeman, Kemsley, Edwards, Furlonge (Rees 65), Hogan, Babalola, Anderson (Portway 76), Wiggins (Batlokwa 65).
