HEYBRIDGE SWIFTS 3 – 1 BRENTWOOD TOWN

Brentwood could not end Heybridge’s 100% home league record as two second half goals by the Swifts earned them the points at Scraley Road.

The home team took an early lead, centre back Darren Phillips heading home a Ben Sartain free kick at the far post in the seventh minute. But Blues were creating chances and got their reward just before half time when Tom Richardson converted from the penalty spot in the 44th minute after Brentwood debutant Luke Hirst had been fouled in the area.

Ex-Brentwood youth player Kieran Jones put Heybridge back in front with a fine finish in the 67th minute but Brentwood nearly equalised immediately when Matt Cripps headed wide from a George Craddock free kick.

Blues full back Anthony Furlonge was red-carded in the 74th minute for a last-man challenge and the ten-men conceded again nine minutes from time, Andrew Fennell finding the net for Swifts third.
