Brentwood Town secured a third consecutive pre-season win away to Walthamstow, running out 2-1 winners in what was a tough fought fixture.
Both sides had chances to open the scoring in the early stages of the game, with Brentwood causing 'Stow problems down the left, with Kymani Thomas and Max Hudson posing a threat. Eventually it was Thomas who broke the deadlock after 36 minutes. The ball fell to the unmarked forward in the box, and he made no mistake in curling the ball past the Walthamstow keeper, into the top right corner.
Keith Rowland made three changes at the break, with Manny Ogunrinde, Benas Vaivada and Marlon Agyakwa all introduced.
Shortly after the break, Walthamstow were back on level terms. A corner from the right made its way to the unmarked Joe Elliot in the box, who was on hand to fire the ball past Melvin Minter.
Not long after that, Sam Park and Mekhi McKenzie were introduced, taking the places of Louie Johnson and Charlee Hughes.
Brentwood Town continued pushing to restore their lead, and it was substitute Benas Vaivada who was causing problems for the Walthamstow defence. The winger cut in from the left and had a shot from the edge of the box. The keeper parried his effort into the path of the onrushing Charlie Edwards, who made no mistake in dinking the rebound home from just a few yards out.
Both sides continued probing, with Manny Ogunrinde sending a teasing low cross into the box, but none of the Brentwood forwards were able to get on the end of his delivery.
Next up for the Blues is a pre-season fixture at home to Brightlingsea Regent on Tuesday 29th July.
