PITCHING IN NORTH DIVISION
AFC SUDBURY 2 – 2 BRENTWOOD TOWN

Andy Freeman scored two goal for the second Saturday running as Brentwood came away with a point from a very entertaining encounter in Suffolk.

It was a match that could have gone either way and Town keeper Ollie Bowles made a number of fine saves in both halves to help earn his team a draw.

All the goals came in the first half in the space of just twelve minutes. Freeman put the visitors in front in the 24th minute, shooting past Luca Collins in the Sudbury goal from Rob Harvey’s pull back from the goal line.

The lead lasted just a minute and it was Brentwood captain Rob Swaine who scored for Sudbury, an own goal from a spectacular diving header as he attempted to clear in the strong wind.

Bowles saved from a Ben hunter free kick and from the resulting corner Joe Heath was penalised for a foul in the area and Billy Holland scored from the penalty spot to give his side a 34th minute lead. But Brentwood were soon level when Freeman scored his second goal two minutes later.

Freeman could have completed a hat-trick eight minutes into the second half, but he shot over the bar after getting behind the home defence.

Bowles tipped a fierce shot from Marley Andrews onto the woodwork in the 58th minute while Freeman, again, went close when he slipped the ball past Collins, but it rolled agonisingly just wide of the far post.

Brentwood Town: Bowles, Gray, Bacon, Love, Heath, Swaine, Reid (Ngandu 83), Dickinson (Bantick 83), Harvey (Ocran 67), Freeman, Rees.
