PITCHING IN ISTHMIAN NORTH
HEYBRIDGE SWIFTS 1 – 2 BRENTWOOD TOWN

George Sykes hit a winner for Blues twenty minutes from time at Heybridge on Saturday, a result that put Brentwood into fourth place in Isthmian North.

It was the best possible start for the visitors to Scraley Road as they took a third minute lead when Sykes challenged for a ball on the edge of the Heybridge penalty area, and it fell to Jesse Olukolu who produced a powerful finish into the far corner.

Swifts had the chance to equalise from the penalty spot just before half time when Romel Aarons Royal fouled Lee Noble, but Kieran Jones kick was well saved by Blues keeper Melvin Minter.

Heybridge were rewarded for some early pressure in the second half when Jack Adlington equalised in the 48th minute, but Brentwood went back in front when Sykes slammed home after Mekhi McKenzie won a header at the far post.
