Match Preview: Brentwood Town vs Carshalton Athletic

Club News | 5 Sep 2025

Brentwood Town are back in league action this weekend as the League Leaders welcome Carshalton Athletic to the Arena in the Isthmian League Premier Division.

The Blues

Brentwood’s most recent outing came in the FA Cup against Leighton Town, where they battled to a hard-fought 2-1 victory to progress into the next round.

As has been the pattern this season, the Blues conceded first when Jack Sayell put the visitors ahead in the 22nd minute. Brentwood responded just 15 minutes later as Danny Ogunleye was fouled in the box, allowing Charlee Hughes to calmly slot home from the spot.

The decisive moment came late on. With three minutes of normal time remaining, Jesse Olukolu’s clever footwork drew another foul inside the area, and substitute Kymani Thomas converted from the penalty spot to seal the win.

It was another stern test in tricky conditions, but the Blues showed resilience to extend their unbeaten start — momentum they’ll look to carry into this clash with the Robins.

The Robins

Carshalton Athletic have endured a challenging start to the season, with two wins and three defeats from their opening league fixtures. Having already faced several promotion contenders, Peter Adeniyi’s side will be determined to build consistency.

Their FA Cup campaign came to an end this week against fellow Isthmian Premier side Wingate & Finchley. After a goalless first tie at  the War Memorial Sports Ground, the Robins lost a dramatic replay 3-2 at the Maurice Rebak Stadium, undone by an 89th-minute winner from Ryan Lowe.

One to watch is skipper Tommy Bradford, who has already netted twice in the league this term. A reliable attacking outlet, Bradford scored eight times last season and remains central to Carshalton’s threat in the final third.

Final Word

Brentwood Town will be eager to keep their unbeaten run going and strengthen their grip at the top of the table, while Carshalton arrive with a point to prove after their FA Cup disappointment.

The Robins’ attacking talent will test the Blues’ defence, but with Brentwood boasting the division’s most dangerous forward line, supporters can expect another lively encounter at the Arena.
