The Blues suffered defeat in the season opener against Bury Town

The Blues travelled to Suffolk in the biggest attendance of the opening day of the 2023/24 Isthmian League season and were giving a get out of jail card penalty in injury time to save this match but unfortunately blasted it over.

Bury Town took the lead after 28 minutes when Man of the Match Jose Sante De La Paz came back onto the pitch from the sidelines and won the ball to set-up Cemal Ramandan who scored with a classy finish.

Just after the break, Luke Brown added a second for the hosts with a low, driven strike into the bottom corner of the net. Bury Town looked to be heading for a clean-sheet but Brentwood failed to give up when on 89 minutes, George Craddock bundled the ball over the line to set up a tense finish and Brentwood’s chance came in the form of a clumsy challenge by the Bury Keeper Daniel Cullun and gifted Brentwood the lifeline of a penalty in injury time unfortunately, this opportunity was missed and the ball was put over the bar.

The Blues travelled back down to Essex along with their circa 30 fans and prepare for this Saturdays 3PM kick-off in the Emirates FA Cup match at The Brentwood Arena v Kings Langley of the Southern League Division 1 Central.
