ROMFORD 0 – 3 BRENTWOOD TOWN

Brentwood won this New Year’s Day local derby thanks to two first half goals by Ashley Nzala and a third from George Craddock eight minutes from the end of the second half.

Nzala scored after just two minutes, and it was a mistake from Boro goalkeeper Robin Ruston. He was shut down by Nzala who blocked the clearance at point blank range on the goal line and the ball rebounded into the goal.

Romford had great chance to equalise in the 36th minute when Justin Bailey got behind the visiting defence and his cross found Christian Adu Gyamfi in front of goal, but his shot was too close to Brentwood keeper Ollie Bowles.

Andy Freeman set up Craddock for an unstoppable finish in the 82nd minute to seal the three points.

Brentwood Town: 13 Ollie Bowles, 2 James Love, 3 Jake Gould, 4 Josh Gray, 5 Matt Cripps, 6 George Craddock, 7 Daniel Ogunleye (Andrew Freeman 77'), 8 Connor Hogan, 9 Ashley Nzala, 10 Jake Giddings (Freddie Gard 57'), 11 Rob Harvey (Haziz Kone 69').
