Tuesday 8th October
VELOCITY TROPHY GROUP 2
ROMFORD 3 – 1 BRENTWOOD TOWN

The first local derby of the season between Brentwood and their ground-share tenants Romford saw the “home” side take the points from this League Cup group match.

Brentwood started the first half brightly with Andy Freeman and Connor Hogan having shots just off target but Boro began to get on top and took a 19th minute lead when Luke McLeavy headed home from a free kick.

Jason Williams made it 1-1 six minutes later, coolly placing his shot inside the far post when the ball fell to him after Tom Anderson’s shot had been blocked.

Tim Brown made some good saves before half time, but he could not prevent Tim Babalola putting Romford ahead again in the opening minute of the second half. The impressive centre forward then notched his second of the night on 59 minutes and Brentwood struggled to get back in the game although Williams was unlucky to see his header from close range bounce over the crossbar.

Brentwood Town: Brown, Pugsley, Osimeh, Edwards, Pianim, Toner (Vaughan 64). Curtis (Milner 56), Hogan (Cosson 85), Williams, Anderson, Freeman.
