The Blues will look to extend their four game unbeaten run, taking on fellow playoff contenders Cray Wanderers who sit 5th in the league. Both teams have identical form over the last 6, so this is shaping up to be a very close encounter.
The Blues
Brentwood have started to find form again, and last time out they were back on the road after three consecutive home games, facing Welling United at Park View Road.
It was a successful trip for the Blues, who ran out 4-1 winners, thanks to an early Kymani Thomas wonderstrike, a Charlee Hughes quickfire brace, and Jesse Olukolu’s 82nd minute goal. Bradley Sach scored for the hosts in the 59th minute but it wasn’t enough for the Wings to get anything from the game.
Keith Rowland’s side have been playing some great football and remain six points clear of Chatham Town, who still have two games in hand. A win here is vital to keep their breathing room to the sides chasing below them.
The Wands
It’s been a good season so far for Cray Wanderers who sit 5th in the league after the opening 24 games. They have accumulated 38 points so far, 11 fewer than the Blues, but similar to Brentwood are in some fine form.
The Wands were at home to Cray Valley (PM) in their last match, and it was a 5-0 demolition for the hosts. Alex Hernandez scored twice, with Harry Waldock, Saul Kader and Jordy Mongoy all finding the back of the net.
The standout player so far has been the man who bagged twice in their last game, Hernandez, who has 10 goals so far this season. It’s been a superb season for the young striker and he has really helped fire the Wands up the table.
Final Word
Both of these sides will be looking for three points in this match, as they continue their intense hunt for a playoff finish. The Blues will be confident heading into this one, as they won the reverse fixture 5-1, whilst the Wands will look for revenge at the Arena. If one thing is certain, it’s that entertainment is guaranteed.
