Blues county cup run ended after a penalty shootout at Coggeshall on Tuesday.

The teams were level at 1-1 at half time but with fewer chances in the second half the match seemed destined for penalties until Alex Teniola’s header in the 85th minute looked as though it was going to win the tie for the home side. However, with the match going into stoppage time, Rob Harvey levelled the scores at 2-2 meaning the match had to be decided on penalties after all.

Coggeshall had led after fifteen minutes of the first half though Jermaine Francis who got clear of the Brentwood defence and got round keeper Carlos Simeon before slotting home. Tom Richardson’s 24th goal of the season got Blues level on the half hour, the striker confidently scoring from Andy Freeman’s assist.
