Tuesday 22nd February
VELOCITY TROPHY 3rd ROUND
CHESHUNT 4 – 2 BRENTWOOD TOWN

Brentwood exited from the last of this season’s cup competition after an entertaining match at Cheshunt on Tuesday night.

Brentwood were chasing the game before half time as the Ambers built a two-goal lead through Taylor McKenzie’s header in the 21st minute and Kayne Diedrick Roberts made it 2-0 with a good finish in the 40th minute.

But Brentwood started the second half with the pace of Asley Nzala troubling the home side and it was Nzala who reduced the arrears seven minutes after the restart when he dispossessed former Blues keeper Preston Edwards and cleverly clipped the ball home off the underside of the crossbar.

Adam Crowther’s header made it 3-1 in the 69th minute and this sparked a spell of three goals in less than three minutes with Daniel Ogunleye firing home for Brentwood and Joe Re scoring Cheshunt’s fourth.

Both sides had chances before the end with the home side twice hitting the woodwork and it was Cheshunt who progressed to the next round leaving Brentwood to concentrate on their promotion chase.
