ISTHMIAN NORTH
REDBRIDGE 1 – 3 BRENTWOOD TOWN

Brentwood moved up to fourth place in Isthmian North after taking three points at the Oakside Stadium.

The home team thought they might have had a penalty when goalkeeper Melvin Minter collided with a Redbridge forward on the edge of the penalty area, but the referee waived play on and Brentwood were soon in front, Mekhi heading home from a Shad Ngandu free kick in the 23rd minute. Brentwood were in control now and Ngandu made it 2-0 fourteen minutes later with a fine strike from the edge of the area that found the bottom corner.

The introduction of substitute James Barlow early in the second half lifted the Motormen and he set up a goal for Ayo Odukoya in the 53rd minute to get the home side back in the game. But the two-goal margin was restored in the 68th minute courtesy of a rather bizarre own goal by Redbridge’s Henry Day.

Brentwood were mostly untroubled for much of the remaining time, but they had substitute Wyan Reid sent off after picking up two late yellow cards.

Brentwood Town: 1 Melvin Minter, 2 Jonathan Nzengo, 3 Tom Stephen, 4 James Love (Connor Hogan 46'), 5 Matt Cripps, 6 Romel Aarons Royal, 7 Jesse Olukolu (Wyan Reid 66'), 8 Shad Ngandu, 18 George Sykes, 9 Mekhi McKenzie (Daniel Ogunleye 90'), 11 Andrew Freeman.
