Brentwood Town host fellow newly promoted side Ramsgate at the Brentwood Centre Arena, and will be looking to bounce back from their first league defeat of the season against Canvey Island on Tuesday night.
The Blues
Brentwood Town travelled to Canvey Island for their second league outing against the Gulls already this season. Despite the Blues being top, and their hosts being winless, they were defeated 3-2.
It was a poor start for Brentwood, Kenedi Dariri opening the scoring within the first minute of the game, and Max Fiddes grabbing a second in the 12th. Brentwood remained in the game thanks to an Alejando Machado screamer from a direct free-kick, going in at the break one goal down.
It was the Blues with the next goal of the game, Danny Ogunleye scoring his 6th of the season in the 71st minute, only for Finlay Dorrell put the Gulls back ahead just 9 minutes later, giving the hosts the 3 points.
That now means one point from the last two matches for Brentwood, who still sit top, 4 points clear of Chatham Town who do have two games in hand. Despite their incredible start to the season, they now have two teams breathing down their neck for top spots, Folkestone Invicta the other.
The Rams
Ramsgate won the Isthmian League South East Division last campaign, with a staggering 109 points, 8 more than Sittingbourne who finished second. They have started well this season, sitting near the middle of the table.
Last time out they were defeated 2-1 by Welling in a game with three red cards. Joe Taylor, the prolific striker, put Ramsgate in front, but two minutes after John Ufuah equalised for the visitors. Logan Dobbs 58th minute strike saw Welling take the three points.
The Rams also received two red cards, one to Tom Clifford, the other to Jerome Binnom-Williams. Dobbs, who scored the winning goal also was sent off soon after netting, seemingly for an incident with Binnom-Williams.
One to watch is Alfie Paxman, joint top scorer in the league. He has 8 so far, and has been vital for the Rams position in the table so far.
Final Word
This is sure to be an exciting match up, with two sides really pushing to show they belong in this division. Both teams have started well, with exciting talent on show, and Keith Rowland’s men will be looking to put Tuesday’s loss behind them.
