Cray Wanderers vs Brentwood Town Match Report
Monday 25th August 2025
Isthmian Premier Division
1-5
Brentwood Town made it four wins on the bounce and continued their unbeaten form in the league with an emphatic victory over Cray Wanderers. A one-goal deficit was once again overturned to secure all three points on Bank Holiday Monday, with a rampant second half flurry of goals.
Although The Blues initially maintained the majority of possession during the opening of the game, Josh Williams gave the hosts an early lead. He picked up a pass won by Prosper Keto on the counterattack before finding himself one-on-one with Melvin Minter, where he slotted the ball into the bottom corner.
Brentwood pushed for an instant equaliser and came close on several occasions. A short corner delivery from Max Hudson was whipped into the box by Ade Cole who picked out Romél Aarons-Royal in the area, but his effort was hooked over.
Kymani Thomas produced a promising delivery as he burst down the left flank, but it fell just short of Charlie Edwards at the centre of goal.
Wanderers had the opportunity to make it two as they capitalised off a loose ball. An effort from close range was attempted by Williams with Minter on hand to deny.
The Blues were awarded a penalty in the 32nd minute with Harry Seaden correctly predicting the path of an on-target spot kick taken by Danny Ogunleye.
However, a minute later Ogunleye found an equaliser by responding well to an in-swinging corner delivery from Hudson and heading his effort into the roof of the net.
The attacking spell continued with a striking effort from Wyan Reid forcing a tip over from Seaden. Edwards attempted a shot from distance which was denied at the bottom goal corner before Thomas drilled his attempt from the edge of the box narrowly across goal into the gloves of Seaden.
In stoppage time a header by Aarons-Royal was adjudged to be cleared off the line to keep both sides level at the break.
The Blues took the lead this time with thundering header into the top corner from Aarons-Royal connecting the corner delivery of Hudson at the back post.
Benas Vaivada sealed a third as he was on hand to slot home a rampant cross from Ogunleye into the bottom corner, before Edwards broke down the right flank and fired home a fourth against his former club.
During the closing stages, Sam Park netted the fifth and final goal of the afternoon as he free kick delivery fell beyond Seaden into the top right corner.
Brentwood Town look to continue their recent form this Saturday at The Arena as they welcome Leighton Town in the First qualifying round of the FA Cup. Tickets are available to purchase in advance via FanBase or at the turnstiles.
