EMIRATES FA CUP PRELIMINARY ROUND REPLAY
HARLOW TOWN 1 – 1 BRENTWOOD TOWN
After extra time, Harlow Town won 4-2 on penalties

Blues suffered a heart-breaking loss on penalties at the end of what turned into an epic cup tie at Harlow. Brentwood led in the 65th minute when substitute Sam Park scored within a minute of coming on with a fine strike into the bottom corner from the edge of the area.

But the Hawks took the tie to extra time when Josh Steel forced the ball home in the 84th minute following a free kick on the right. Two minutes into extra time, Brentwood had a chance to win the match from the penalty spot, but Matt Price’s kick was well saved by home keeper Emmanuel Nwosu.

Following a close encounter on Saturday, this was always going to be another tight match. Haihi Berchche had a shot deflected for a corner in the 14th minute, but Blues created some good chances in the first half. Two fell to David Knight who saw his 32nd minute effort cleared off the line by Harlow defender Jimmy Wallace. A minute later Knight’s free kick was well saved by Nwosu.

After Park’s goal, Harry Girling was the busier keeper and after the equaliser, Girling made a 90th minute save from Aleko Aliaj to make sure the tie went to extra time.

Brentwood Town: 1 Harry Girling, 2 Kane Phillip, 3 Chris Gregan, 5 Joe Heath, 6 Callum Leahy, 7 Charlie Kendall (Sam Park 64'), 8 Jack Dickinson, 9 David Knight, 10 Jai Reason (Jeremiah Amoo 90'), 11 Andrew Freeman, 17 Matt Price.
