Saturday 7th October
BRENTWOOD TOWN 1 - 1 GORLESTON
The points were shared after a close match at the Brentwood Arena with the home side’s Billy Roast second half equaliser cancelling out Luke Johnson’s 36th minute strike for Gorleston.
Brentwood had an early chance for Matt Price who shot just wide in the ninth minute while Johnson nearly scored for Gorleston ahead in the 32nd minute but his shot was saved at the near post by Melvin Minter. However, Johnson put the visitors ahead four minutes later, scoring easily after Alby Matthews fine run and low cross from the left wing.
Price’s header just before half time was saved by Gorleston keeper Jake Jessup and Brentwood dominated the early stages of the second half and were rewarded in the 61st minute when Sam Deering’s free kick saw Price denied again by Jessup, but Roast was there to shoot the loose ball into the bottom corner.
Blues’ Sam Deering had a goal ruled out for a close offside decision fifteen minutes from the end and both sides had chances to win the match in stoppage time at the end of the half. Gorleston hit the crossbar before Roast nearly had a second goal but Jessup saved again.
