Potters Bar Town 3 - 4 Brentwood Town
Saturday 16th August 2025

Brentwood Town emerged victorious in an intense 4-3 victory over Potters Bar Town, having fought back from a two-goal deficit in the first half. Goals from Louie Johnson, Charlee Hughes and a Danny Ogunleye brace was enough to earn all three points on the road against an experienced Isthmian Premier opposition.

The hosts opened the scoring in the fifth minute as Reiss Webber capitalised from a Blues clearance and netted a shot that rolled beyond the gloves of Melvin Minter.

Brandon Adams extended their lead at the 10-minute mark as he picked up the cross from Webber down the right flank, before firing a shot down the centre of goal.

Having earned a free kick on the edge of the area, an effort taken by Jack Munns fell inches wide from the left post before a spell of relentless attacking by The Blues.

Louie Johnson reduced the deficit and secured his third goal of the season as a clearance from the Scholars’ defence fell to him inside the area and he netted a controlled volley past Fred Burbidge.

In the second minute of additional time The Blues found an equaliser. An in-swinging cross from Max Hudson was met at the back post by the header of Charlee Hughes.

The Blues continued as they meaned to go on with instant impact after the break. Effortless link-up play between Kymani Thomas and Hudson down the left flank saw another precise delivery into the area, where Danny Ogunleye was on hand to head home an advantage beyond Burbidge.

The hosts made it level when a corner delivered into the box by Munns, was converted by an attacking header from Ryan Doherty.

With 15 minutes on the clock remaining, The Blues were awarded a penalty with Benas Vaivada being brought down in the area by Isaac Pedro. Ogunleye stepped up to the spot and converted his shot by tucking it at the left post.

The Blues return to league action this Saturday as the welcome fellow newly promoted outfit Burgess Hill Town to The Arena. Kick-off is at 3pm with tickets available to purchase via FanBase or at the turnstiles.
