The Blues are back at the Arena tonight, taking on an out-of-form Cheshunt side, as they look to return to winning ways under the lights. Brentwood still sit in second, but a positive result here would give them some breathing room away from the chasing pack.
The Blues
It was a tricky match last time out against top of the league Folkestone Invicta. It was a 1-0 defeat at the Alcaline Stadium, in a closely fought competitive fixture.
The Blues battled well and demonstrated their quality at this level, but Ade Yusuff’s 69th minute penalty was the difference between the two sides, pushing Invicta 9 points clear at the top of the Isthmian Legaue Premier table.
Brentwood have played one more match than Chatham who sit two points below them, so a win against Cheshunt is important to have the best chance to remain in second place over the coming weeks.
The Ambers
Cheshunt have had a disappointing start to the season, accumulating 22 points so far, and sitting 17th in the table. After winning 4 league matches in August, they have only managed one league win since, in a 2-0 win over Canvey Island on the 25th November. So our visitors will be desperate for a positive result to regain some form.
They lost 3-1 to Welling United in their last league match, with goals from Sonny Black, Troy Howard and Femi Akinwande. Sam Granville did score for the visitors, but it was not enough for a point.
Granville is one to watch in this game, as the Ambers leading goalscorer so far this campaign. He has 5 league goals in what has been a tricky season for Cheshunt, but the goals have been spread throughout the team, with multiple players scoring multiple goals already.
Final Word
Keith Rowland’s side will be keen to return to winning ways after the result against Invicta. Cheshunt are in need of a positive performance, but the Blues will hope to have the quality to get the three points over the line.
