The Blues began strongly and propelled in attacking chances. The first of those came to Wyan Reid, whose shot with the outside of his boot was palmed away by ‘keeper Aymen Azaze.
Azaze was then forced into another save, as Alejandro Machado delivered a promising cross to Max Hudson who fired at goal from the edge of the box.
Brentwood then took the lead on 33 minutes. After another sprinting run from Kymani Thomas down the left flank, the winger produced a low cross, which deflected off Dequane Wilson-Braithwaite, and then off the outstretched leg of Jesse Olukolu, who netted his 3rd of the season.
Despite Brentwood producing the better chances of the half, it was Cheshunt who found an equaliser just before the break. An in-swinging cross from Lordon Akolbire was met by the half-volley effort of Matthias Fanimo at the back post to level the score.
The Blues emerged into the second-half encouragingly with the aim of restoring their lead and came close through an effort fired by Thomas from 25 yards out, which was struck narrowly wide.
Moments later Brentwood were able to regain their advantage, with the floating delivery of Hudson nodded into the back of the net by Thomas.
However, the visitors found themselves with an opportunity to strike level again just four minutes later. Connor Kurran-Browne was tripped in the box from Reid, and up stepped captain Sam Granville who converted from the spot, sending Melvin Minter the wrong way.
A flurry of chances then followed for the Blues in an effort to get back ahead. An in-swinging delivery from Hudson was flicked goal wards by the header of Danny Ogunleye but was denied by Azaze, before a goalmouth scramble saw an initial header by Andy Freeman cleared off the line and a second by Machado knocked over the bar.
In the final minute, The Ambers had one last attack with a free-kick on the edge of the box. It was struck fiercely by Kurran-Browne, but was denied by the gloves of Minter to leave the sides level.
Brentwood Town return to action on Saturday as they welcome Hashtag United in another important Isthmian League Premier fixture.
