It’s back-to-back home games for the Blues as they take on Hashtag United on Saturday, looking to cement their grip on second place. After the draw last time out against Cheshunt, Keith Rowland’s side will be looking for all three points in this one.
The Blues
It was a somewhat frustrating result last time out in a 2-2 draw against Cheshunt on Tuesday night. Brentwood had many chances to win the game, but despite a couple cleared off the line, were unable to find the winner.
Jesse Olukolu scored the Blues opener, but it was met by Matthias Fanimo’s first half equaliser. Kymani Thomas put Brentwood back in front 13 minutes into the second half, but Sam Granville levelled from the spot just four minutes later.
It’s been a difficult run for the Blues and they have faced some of the most competitive sides in the division, but having hit 40 points already, it has been a great return to step 3, and one that everyone at the club can be proud of.
The Tags
It’s been a pretty disappointing start for Hashtag United, and the threat of relegation is currently hanging over them, 19th in the table, and one point from safety. Despite this, they seem to be finding some form, with a 4-0 win over Canvey Island in their last league match.
Facing one of the three teams below them, the Tags gave themselves a bit of breathing room against the Gulls, especially thanks to a first half hat-trick from Luke May-Parrott. Captain Max Cornhill scored in the 86th minute to secure the result, and give Hashtag some confidence heading into this one.
One to watch is striker Luke May-Parrott who has 7 goals for the season. With Bradley Sach recently departing for Welling United, the Tags will be looking to May-Parrott as their main source for goals.
Final Word
Despite their respective league positions, this should be an exciting clash between two good sides, but Keith Rowland’s men will be keen to utilise the quality in their squad.
