Brentwood Town Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of experienced centre-back Ryan Henshaw, who joins the Blues from fellow Essex side Aveley.
The 33-year-old defender brings a wealth of experience at Step 2 and Step 3 level, having previously represented the likes of Billericay Town, AFC Sudbury, Heybridge Swifts, Bishop’s Stortford and Braintree Town.
A strong and imposing centre-back, Henshaw joined Aveley ahead of the 2025/26 season and was immediately handed the club captaincy, helping the Millers to a second-place finish in the Isthmian League Premier Division.
Ryan has also enjoyed considerable success throughout his career, winning the Isthmian League Premier Division title with Bishop’s Stortford in 2022/23, having been named in the division’s Team of the Season during their title-winning campaign.
He was also part of the AFC Sudbury side which won the Isthmian League North Division title in 2015/16, adding further promotion-winning experience to the Brentwood squad.
Henshaw now reunites with new Blues boss Brett Munyard, having previously worked with the manager at Aveley.
With his signing confirmed, Henshaw said:
“Brett explained the ambitions of the football club and it was something I really wanted to be a part of. I’m pleased to be on board now and can’t wait to get going. I look forward to meeting everyone.”
His arrival adds further experience, leadership and physical presence to the Brentwood Town defensive ranks as the Blues continue to strengthen under their new manager.
And there could be little time to wait for his Brentwood debut, with Ryan available for selection for tonight’s Isthmian League Premier Division clash against Maldon & Tiptree at The Arena.
