🔎 Match Preview

This is a massive opportunity for the Blues. A play-off semi-final, and two games away from playing National League South football next season.

Away at Aveley’s Parkside Stadium, it certainly will not be an easy game, but Keith Rowland’s side will put everything on the line to try and progress to the final.

The Blues

Brentwood occupied the final play-off spot having only returned to life in Step 3 this season. The Blues won the Isthmian North Division last campaign, and were not expected to finish as high as they did. However, key players have stepped up once again, allowing Brentwood to achieve a record-high league finish in the club’s modern era.

The Blues head into this play-off semi-final having won three of their last five games, drawing one and losing the other. They sit seventh in the form table, but will take confidence from everything they’ve achieved this season.

Danny Ogunleye is a player who cannot be ignored for Brentwood Town. He finished third top scorer in the Isthmian Premier Division, netting twenty league goals, and will be desperate to add to that tally to help fire the Blues into the final.

The Millers

Aveley finished 2nd in the Isthmian Premier Division and are targeting an immediate return to the National League South after relegation last season.

The Millers accumulated 84 points across the campaign – 12 fewer than champions Folkestone Invicta and six more than Brentwood. They sit third in the form table, having won four of their last five games, and come into the play-offs with strong momentum.

One to watch is Ollie Peters, a dangerous midfielder who scored 14 league goals this season, finishing as Aveley’s top scorer. He also contributed five assists – an excellent return.

Final Word

The two sides have already served up drama this season. The opening-day meeting at Parkside ended 1-1, with Charlee Hughes grabbing a late equaliser, while the reverse fixture finished 3-3 in another thrilling contest.

Since then, both teams have evolved – and on Wednesday night, everything is on the line. A place in the final awaits, against either Billericay Town or Chatham Town.

It doesn’t get bigger than this. The chance to move within 90 minutes of National League South football.
