EAST THURROCK UNITED 1 – 1 BRENTWOOD TOWN

Despite a great deal of effort from both sides, this Bank Holiday Monday fixture at Rookery Hill ended in a draw.

The Rocks had the better of the exchanges in the first ten minutes although Blues should have taken a tenth minute lead when they broke away and Matt Price dispossessed Ehizojie Onoabhagbe, but the striker shot wide.

Daniel Ogunleye had a shot blocked two minutes later and it was he who gave Brentwood the lead on 25 minutes, finishing clinically from Andy Freeman’s assist.

East Thurrock equalised in the 41st minute, Frankie Franz scoring with a left foot shot from the edge of the area following Jesse Olukolu’s cross from the right.

Both teams were committed to try and win the match in the second half. Price twice went close for Blues but neither team could find the decisive finish and there were no more goals.
