Saturday 20th September 2025
Isthmian Premier Division
3-0
Brentwood Town remain unbeaten as they secured all three points against Billericay. Two first half goals and a strike late on was enough to earn The Blues their first Essex derby win of the season.
“For the fans and the 1,600 today, we’re delighted with the win,” said Blues boss Keith Rowland at full time.
“Billericay were dangerous in a different way to us. But we were well worthy of the two goals as our movement was really good.
“In the second half we manged the game really well, but we never stepped off of it our work rate and effort were terrific. The group worked hard for each other”.
The visitors began strongly with a flurry of chances. The first came early on when Jack Evans won the corner and whipped it goal wards, but Melvin Minter punched out the cross to keep the sides level.
Frankie Merrifield was picked out through on goal but his effort at the near post encountered a block by Minter.
Billericay came close into taking the lead when Femi Akinwande found himself one-on-one with Minter, but his shot faced a well-timed goal line clearance by Wyan Reid.
At the other end of the field Andy Freeman whipped in a long-range effort which forced a tip over the bar by Sam Donkin to deny. Brentwood opened the scoring through their captain Matt Cripps as he headed in a delivery from Ade Cole into the near corner of goal.
A close-range strike from Elliot Long in a promising position was struck over the bar before The Blues continued on with their attack. A through ball from Louie Johnson picked Kymani Thomas, who was able to cut inside the defence before his strike encountered a block by the Billericay backline.
Johnson then burst down the centre of field and played ball it out to Danny Ogunleye down the right flank, with his long-range attempt struck over.
On the stroke of half time The Blues doubled their lead with Andy Freeman as he knocked in a ball squared into the box down the left-hand side from Charlie Edwards.
Brentwood emerged in the second half as they had ended the first. Ogunleye picked up a cross from Cripps down the right flank and cut into the box, with his curling cross taking a deflection over the bar.
In the closing stages, Sam Park extended the lead as he dispossessed Ryan Scott before firing a low range effort to the far post.
