It was not a happy Boxing Day for Brentwood as they succumbed to high-flying Hashtag who established a three-goal half time lead that was too much for the visitors despite an improved second half performance.

Hashtag were soon on top taking a 2-0 lead after just ten minutes of the first half with goals from Toby Aromolaran and Alex Teniola. George Craddock had Brentwood’s best effort on target testing home keeper James Philip from 25 yards just before the half hour, but it was 3-0 when Pedro Carvalho scored five minutes before the break.

Brentwood made three substitutions at the start of the second half, but they fell further behind in the 53rd minute, Teniola netting his second of the afternoon. Luke Hirst reduced the arrears in the 77th minute but within two minutes it was 5-1 when Teniola, who had a spell with Brentwood in 2016, completing his hat-trick.

Brentwood then grabbed their second goal in the 84th minute following a good move down the right that ended with Andy Freeman converting at close range from Connor Hogan’s cross.

Brentwood Town: 1 Harry Girling, 3 Chris Gregan, 4 Flavio Jumo, 5 Matt Cripps, 6 Jack Humphrey, 7 Daniel Ogunleye (Solomon Ogunwomoju 46'), 8 George Craddock (Jermaine Osei 46'), 9 Luke Hirst, 10 Sam Park, 11 Andrew Freeman, 2 Anthony Furlonge (Connor Hogan 46')
