BRENTWOOD TOWN 1 – 0 IPSWICH WANDERERS

Matt Price’s deflected shot in the 44th minute proved the winner for Brentwood against league newcomers Ipswich Wanderers.

Both teams were looking for their first win of the season and it was Wanderers who started the first half the stronger and Kai Fletcher could have given them a first minute lead, but he stabbed just wide at the far post from Joel Glover’s cross. Matt Blake also wasted a good opening shooting over the home side’s crossbar in the 20th minute.

The Home team gradually got into the game with Daniel Ogunleye getting a shot on target in the 27th minute but it needed a fine save from Melvin Minter to keep Blues level at half time. Minter was busy again early in the second half but in the latter stages Brentwood gradually looked in control with Daniel Ogunleye a constant threat up front.

Brentwood Town: 1 Melvin Minter, 2 Kingdom Dawson, 3 Jack Humphrey, 4 James Love, 5 Matt Cripps, 6 Billy Roast, 7 Jack Adlington, 8 George Craddock, 9 Daniel Ogunleye, 17 Matthew Price (Connor Hogan 79'), 18 Manuchim Oke-William (Sam Deering 72').
