Brentwood Town 3-2 Felixstowe and Walton United

Isthmian League North Division
Brentwood Town advance to the top of the league table after a thrilling victory over promotion contenders Felixstowe and Walton United in a top of the table clash.
The Seasiders came close to securing an early lead but the shot of top scorer Charlie Warren was blocked by Andrew Freeman.
Lyle Della-Verde came marginally close for The Blues as his curling free kick forced the gloves of Harry Wright to deny his attempt.
Moments later captain Billy Holland produced a header which was met by a Blues’ goal line clearance.
The Blues followed with a rampant attack as Jon Nzengo placed a curling cross into the box. It was met by George Smith in the crowded area but was forcefully tipped over by Wright.
Smith continued to break beyond The Seasiders’ backline with his clever back heel narrowly making contact with the right post.
On the brink of half time a Della-Verde free kick struck the crossbar to keep the sides level at the break.
However the beginning of the second half saw Blues’ leading goal scorer Daniel Ogunleye net his 34th goal of the season as he converted from the spot.
Five minutes on a Warren delivery was tapped home by Willie Clemons to equalise Felixstowe.
Samuel Ford put The Seasiders ahead in the 75th minute by netting a spot kick before their backline narrowly cleared the effort of Smith at the other end.
In stoppage time Ogunleye converted another from the same spot to recover the deficit before substitute Ayo Odukoya secured the victory.
The visitors thought that they had equalised but were disallowed a last-minute goal in the final chance of the game as the linesman waved offside.
This victory sees The Blues advance to the top of the table for the first time this season and they return to The Arena on Saturday where they will host Newmarket Town.
