BRENTWOOD TOWN 2 – 1 HEYBRIDGE SWIFTS

Brentwood recovered from a half time deficit to progress to the quarter-finals of the county cup on Tuesday.

Despite the rain during the day, which persisted for much of the games, the Arena pitch stood up well.

Blues line-up included debutant Danny Hurford at left back and the home side started the first half brightly with Harry Doyle testing visiting goalkeeper Chris Haigh with a fierce drive from 20 yards in the second minute.

Swifts took an eleventh minute lead through Dan Walker who skilfully chipped into the net after home keeper James Pellin had come off his line to save the first effort.

Albert Levett levelled the tie in the 53rd minute heading home at the far post after good work on the right by Jack Mitchell.

Quba Gordon was then credited with the winning goal on 67 minutes, getting a touch to a free kick into the area.

Brentwood Town: Pellin, Mitchell (Rawlins 73), Doyle (Jolliffe 88), Mallett, Gordon, Carter, Smith, Apenteng, Hurford, Levett, Stokes (Littlejohn 78).

The draw for the quarter-finals will be made on Wednesday 5th December.
