FA CUP 2nd QUALIFYING ROUND
BISHOP’S STORTFORD 1 – 0 BRENTWOOD TOWN

A single goal in the second half saw Brentwood eliminated from the FA Cup on Saturday, Stortford’s skipper Ryan Henshaw breaking the deadlock in the 62nd minute.

Town had the better chances in the opening stages. Joe Heath headed over following a Shad Ngandu corner in the tenth minute and Kudus Oyenuga tested home keeper Jack Giddens three minutes later after linking up with Rob Harvey.

The home side made two substitutions at the start of the second half and began very strongly and Brentwood keeper Preston Edwards made a string of fine saves to keep out Frankie Merrifield, Ben Marlow and Aaron Greene. But Stortford went in front when Darren Foxley’s cross was converted from close range by Henshaw.

Brentwood had a great chance to force a penalty shootout in the last minute of stoppage time when Andy Freeman pulled the ball back to substitute Josh Gray who shot over the bar from a few yards out.

Brentwood Town: Edwards, Hogan (Gray 56), Gould, Love, Swaine, Heath, Ngandu, Freeman, Harvey, Oyenuga (Dickinson 72), Rees.
