BRENTWOOD TOWN 5 – 1 HULLBRIDGE SPORTS

A Ross wall hat-trick helped Brentwood to a comfortable win over bottom club Hullbridge.

Solomon Ogunwomoju had a chance for the Blues in the first minute but was denied by visiting keeper Lewis Greene, but it was Ogunwomoju who put his team ahead two minutes later with a good finish, hitting the ball over the head of the advancing Greene.

Former Brentwood striker Martin Tuohy equalised for Hullbridge in the eighteenth minute, but Brentwood could have been back in front almost immediately when they were awarded a penalty for handball, but Greene saved George Craddock’s penalty. Home keeper Melvin Minter saved well from Darius Ghinea before Matt Cripps made it 2-1 and Wall scored his first goal just before half time, converting Craddock’s low cross.

Ogunwomoju had a good chance six minutes into the second half and Wall volleyed in his second cross from Andy Freeman’s cross in the 57th minute. Greene was always the busier keeper, saving Jack Dickinson and Ogunwomoju either side of Wall’s third goal that came in the 77th minute after more good work from Ogunwomoju.

The win keeps Blues in a mid-table position after a run of just one defeat in thirteen league matches.

Brentwood Town: 1 Melvin Minter, 2 James Folkes, 3 Andrew Freeman, 4 Rob Clark (Connor Hogan 43'), 5 Matt Cripps, 6 Junior Velasquez, 7 Bryan Ifeanyi (Olla Bello 63'), 8 Flavio Jumo (Jack Dickinson 63'), 9 Ross Wall, 10 George Craddock, 11 Solomon Ogunwomoju.
