Brentwood Town are excited to announce the signing of centre forward George Smith from fellow Isthmian North outfit Cambridge City.

George began his senior career at Heybridge Swifts before completing a loan spell at Stansted and a move to Coggeshall United.

In 2019, George moved to Hashtag United for their debut campaign in the Essex Senior League. Over the two seasons he produced an impressive record of 36 goals in 61 appearances, with 26 of those scored in the interrupted 2019/20 campaign. He was also a part of the squad that gained promotion to the Isthmian North Division having ended at the top of the table when the 2020/21 season curtailed.

Some of his other clubs include the likes of Coggeshall Town, Wivenhoe Town and Hullbridge Sports.

George became Maldon and Tiptree’s top scorer for the 2023/24 season as he recorded 34 goal involvements, with 24 goals and 10 assists. He secured a league hat-trick in the Jammers’ 5-1 victory over Wroxham at the start of November.

Most recently George signed for Cambridge City at the beginning of the 2024/25 season where he went on to convert 16 goals in 31 games, including a double against Newmarket Town in the Second Qualifying Round of the Isuzu FA Trophy.

When asked on signing for The Blues, George said, “After playing against Brentwood a few times now, you can see the talent in the squad and what they have been building. To be a part of it all is a no brainer.

“The position the club is in on and off the pitch and their future plans speak for themselves. I’m here to play my part and get the promotion that the club deserves.”

We can expect a highly talented and motivated forward, with strengths in converting in front of goal. Brentwood Town are excited to extend their welcome to George for the remainder of the season.
