FRUITLESS TRIP TO SUFFOLK FOR BLUES

BOSTIK NORTH DIVISION
FELIXSTOWE & WALTON UNITED 3 – 0 BRENTWOOD TOWN

After conceding two early goals, Brentwood had a fruitless trip to Suffolk on Saturday.

Both goalkeepers were busy in the opening two minutes, but Blues went behind in the fourth minute when Blues Nathan Fox, who had already suffered a foot injury, could not clear and Liam Hillyard took advantage to put Felixstowe ahead. Fox soon had to be replaced with Kojo Apenteng coming off the bench to take the right wing back role.

Charlee Hughes’ pace was causing problems for the Seasiders defence and home keeper Jack Spurling saved well in the eleventh minute to keep the Brentwood striker out, but three minutes later Felixstowe had the cushion of a second goal. Ethan Clarke’s right-wing corner was met at the far post by Josh Kerridge who headed down for Rhys Barber to score from close range.

Chances continued to be created in the first half but hopes of another Brentwood comeback in the second half were dashed soon after the restart when Apenteng conceded a penalty with a foul on Miles Powell and Jack Ainsley converted the spot kick.

Despite both sides best efforts there were no more goals and Brentwood remain in eleventh place in Bostik North
